Great Canadian Bass Tournament
Each July, the Town of Fort Frances goes a little fishy with the Great Canadian Bass Tournament, one of
Canada's largest professional tournaments and its greatest fishing party. The event brings the community
together and Safeway is front and centre, hosting the snack area and raising thousands of dollars for a local
charity. The event depends on more than 60 Safeway volunteers and a great deal of organization, but the
community depends on us - and we're proud to be there!
Safeway Cares On-line Auction
As part of the Safeway Because We Care fund raising campaign, the employees of Canada Safeway in Kenora, Ontario annually host an on-line auction in support of the local Hospital Foundation. The store hopes to purchase a CT Scanner for the Lake of the Woods Hospital. Safeway stores in Kenora, Fort Frances and Dryden have raised over $450,000 since 1998 in support of local charitable causes.
Thunder Bay
As the largest single contributor to food banks in Western Canada, Safeway is proud to be a significant
supporter of Thunder Bay's Shelter House. Supporting this organization with cash and food donations, we
are helping to make a difference in this community.
