The Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center is located in North Central Texas. The facility was constructed on over 47,000 acres in both Taylor and Nolan counties.
Turbines:
291 GE 1.5 megawatt wind turbines and 130 Siemens 2.3 megawatt wind turbines.
The GE turbines are over 250 feet tall and have three 126 feet long blades.
The Siemens turbines are over 230 feet tall and have three 150 feet long blades.
Project Development:
The project was built in three phases. The first phase of 213 megawatts was completed in late 2005, the second phase of 223.5 megawatts was completed in the second quarter of 2006; and, the third phase of 299 megawatts was completed in September of 2006.
